This world-famous grape produces <strong>exceptional white wines with good tension and beautiful liveliness<\/strong>, which white wine lovers hold in high esteem. You also find richer, creamier wines made from Chenin, including in sweet and lusciously sweet styles. Coteaux du Layon (sweet) and Savenni\u00e8res (dry) are two well-known examples.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>Anjou also has a growing reputation for excellent reds, thanks in particular to the Cabernet Franc variety. Known locally as \u201cle breton\u201d, this grape can produce premium quality wines (e.g. AOC Saumur-Champigny), some of which are capable of ageing. Lay aside the image of the light easy-drinking Loire Valley red that is best served chilled; these big red wines are quite the opposite with their fruit and body.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_large\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2>Touraine<\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Advancing further along the valley, you come to Touraine where <strong>Cabernet Franc<\/strong> is still one of the main varieties for red wines, accompanied sometimes by <strong>Cabernet Sauvignon<\/strong>. Here you find some very nice appellations such as <strong>Chinon<\/strong> and <strong>Bourgueil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There are white wines in Touraine, too, like AOC Vouvray or AOC Montlouis which are both also made exclusively from Chenin, whether in the dry, sweet or sparkling style.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_large\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2>Nivernais-Berry<\/h2>\n<p>If you continue travelling up the Loire, you eventually near the town of Nevers, with the river Cher on one side and the Loiret on the other. Here you have two very well-known Loire wine appellations \u2013 <strong>Pouilly Fum\u00e9<\/strong>, on the right bank of the Loire and <strong>Sancerre<\/strong> on the left.<\/p>\n<p>With <strong>a continental climate and much less of an oceanic influence, the terroir here is well suited to Sauvignon.<\/strong> This variety is known for freshness and vivacity as well as a completely different aromatic profile to Chenin. Aromas of citrus and passion fruit mixed with herbaceous notes can typically be found.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_large\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>There is no debating that the Loire Valley is a fantastic wine region.
