After taking the time to search for their ideal wine estate, Am\u00e9lie Osmond and Victor Mischler eventually chose Clos du Notaire in 2015. The beauty of the terroir, the modern facilities, the geographical location and the microclimate all beckoned them to take the plunge. They fell in love with Clos du Notaire and decided to settle here.<\/p>\n
The vineyard stands on the site of a former 14th-century abbey. It featured in the FERET Guide as far back as 1874<\/strong> when it was listed as Cru Bourgeois Second Growth and Cru Artisan First Growth.<\/p>\n The Clos du Notaire vineyard benefits from uninterrupted views over the confluence of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, as well as its own microclimate. Indeed the estate is located close to the Gironde estuary <\/strong>and on a south-facing slope<\/strong>. This choice position ensures constant mild temperatures <\/strong>and protects the vines from storms, hail, frost and other weather-related risks.<\/p>\n The terroir and a meticulous approach to winemaking<\/strong>,\u00a0with maturation in vats and new wooden barrels<\/strong>, give the wine a woody taste, without excess. Fleshy, supple and fruity in the mouth, it has won many medals<\/strong> in Paris, Bordeaux and M\u00e2con, and has been favourably quoted in the specialised press. The soil consists of clay and ferruginous clay, with a red gravelly surface layer.
